On a dismal day, with rain and wind to blow away the cobwebs from Saturday night, 123 people lined up for the inaugural Somerleyton 5k race.
A generous prize purse ensured that many of the region’s top runners attended. Amongst the runners were seven runners from Lowestoft Road Runners. First home was Carl Prewer in seventh place in a time of 17:09 (winning his age group ) – Carl was pleased enough but still feeling the effects of running London Marathon.
Next home in 29th place was Carl Meen smiling as ever as he finished the tough course in 20:18. Soon after came Chris Haylock in 31st place in 20:27.
First lady home was Karen Archbold in 39th place (third lady). Karen was pleased to run well having also just run London.
Next another London finisher was Mark Elflett in 42nd place in 20:42. Second lady home nearing a PB was Elayne Hilton in 65th place in 24:33 (winning her age group).
