At the same time that Novak Djokovic was retaining his Australian Open title, nine-year-old Ross Wilson from Carlton Colville was also successful in winning the Mini Orange (9 and under) tournament held at the impressive Easton College Tennis Centre in Norwich.
His powerful serve and well judged shot placement were the undoing of his opponents, including two higher ranked players from Norwich. He then went on to defeat Louie Parker from Gorleston in the semi final, before moving on to beat Norwich-based Edward Horton in the final 7-0 7-4.
This was Ross’ third tournament win in his short tennis career and his second as as a Mini Orange player. Ross plays at Southwold Tennis Club and would like to thank coaches Mark Websdale and David Cooper for their help and guidance.
